What is Mantrailing?
Mantrailing is a sport teaching dogs to find people by following their unique scent trail. All dogs have a natural ability to hunt and therefore Mantrailing provides them with an outlet to do this in a safe, controlled and constructive way.
We teach them how to harness their amazing sense of smell and turn it into a super fun activity for dogs and their humans to do together as a sport for fun.
Why at Sound Dog Connection
We are devoted to and passionate about working with dogs and their humans to help both live their best lives. This is done through games and activities to offer dogs the chance to show us more about their internal world. Also, here in western WA we love to be outside! This game is primarily played outside, and we will move to various locations as we play and learn from our dogs all while bonding and getting our “steps”
In 2023 I was in Miami, FL at Florida International University presenting at Canine Olfaction & Detection Conference. This presentation is related to the chapter I co-wrote for the text Canines The Original Biosensors, DeGreef & Schultz. Here I meet Lisa Gorenflo, founder of Mantrailing Global. I was fascinated with the game instantly and waited patiently for an online certification class to be ready. I am currently enrolled in the course and excited to share the fun with humans and pups of western WA.
